I’m a bit of a political junkie. I love to follow various blogs, newspapers, and magazines, and figured that it would be fun to have my own little space on the Web on which I could ramble about my reactions to the events happening in Washington and in the punditsphere.
As you may notice, my blog’s title is inspired by Andrew Sullivan’s book The Conservative Soul, which talks about a “conservatism of doubt.” I highly recommend the book, and I also highly recommend his blog (andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com), which is what attracted me to blogging and the blogosphere in the first place. I like to think that my views, while left-leaning, contain the same sort of distrust of the kind of fundamentalism which he eloquently writes against. Hence the idea of a “liberalism of doubt”, a phrase which he has mentioned a couple of times on his blog and I think describes the viewpoints both of myself and many others like me.
This is not a personal blog, which is why I have not affixed my name to it. Rather, this is a blog about the issues currently affecting the United States and what one person, with a particular viewpoint, thinks about them. I’m afraid that I really do not have the time to moderate comments, so for now I’m not allowing them; perhaps that will change in the future.
Anyhow, I hope that you have some fun reading this, and that I can either make you think about some of these issues from another perspective, or at the very least link you to some thoughtful bits of writing which I find throughout the Internet. Let’s go!
